"This is a cool place to check out. Located on the Southside of St. John's harbour, are the ruins of Fort Amherst. The ruins are not maintained and you can only go down so far unless you want to jump a small fence and check out the rest of the ruins. We had our engagement pictures taken here (Save the Date Magnet) and the views of the harbour, Signal hill and the ocean are amazing. Check it out if you have time."

"Signal Hill is close to downtown St. John's and is a 'must see' for all visitors to Newfoundland. It has a great view of the ocean, St. John's and also the Harbour. It is very easy to see whales from the top of Signal Hill. There is a walking trail that climbs Signal Hill for those people interested... it's about 2 km in total but features over 750 stairs. The view is amazing... It starts at the bottom of Signal Hill and it will lead you right around the side all the way to the top beside Cabot Tower. Amazing trail and views. Not too hard but give yourself 30mins-1 hour to finish."
