Attraction:
A day trip to old York
ShamblesYork, England, GB
"York is a fantastic place to go for a day trip and see a lot of English history. In many ways the history of York is the history of England. Located on the other side of the Pennine Hills from Lancashire, about a 1½ hour journey by car along the M62 Motorway or by train from Manchester, York is a city crammed with history, and many things for the visitor to see. York is an old city. First as a Roman city (Eboracum, built around 71-73 AD), later as a Danish and Viking stronghold (around 600 AD, and by then known as Yorvik), then as a medieval one, with its political and religious intrigues (and regarded as important enough for the Archbishop of York to be declared Primate of England by the Pope around 735 AD), and finally as an elegant Jacobean and Georgian town of great beauty."
Attraction:
Cafe Rouge
653b Wilmslow RdManchester,, United Kingdom
"This is about as French as you get without getting sea sick :) One of our Favourite Restaurants in Didsbury!!"
Attraction:
Didsbury Clocktower
"Save the clocktower.... save the clock tower... 30 Years ago, lightening struck this clock tower, and the clock hasn’t run since... Actually, this clock tower was built in 1880 and is the only remaining part of Didsbury railway station and the clock is still runnning. However, I definitely wouldn't drive past it in a Delorian at 88 miles per hour..."
Attraction:
Didsbury Park
Didsbury ParkManchester, England, United Kingdom
"Didsbury Park is a lovely alternative route from the hotel to Didsbury Village where there are various restaurants, shops and pubs."
Attraction:
Edale and the penine way
Edale, Hope Valley, DerbyshireHope Valley, England, GB
"For those of you that want a day trip to the countryside and a more remote Enlgish village....Edale is widely recognised as the southern gateway to the Penine Way. This is a great starting point for walking to Kinder Scout another landmark that appears in our beloved "Pride and Prejudice"."
Attraction:
Fletcher Moss Park
"Fletcher Moss is one of Didsbury’s most beautiful green spaces. This is a quiet and varied park area with tiered botanical gardens, pond life, a nature reserve and Stenner Woods leading to the nearby River Mersey."
Attraction:
Manchester Art Gallery
Mosley StManchester, England, GB
"This gallery houses what is claimed to be one of Britain's best art collections (just ask the bride's dad!) and has recently undergone a £35m makeover. This is the largest of Manchester's Art Galleries, and houses an extensive collection of paintings, sculptures and ceramics, with paintings by Turner, Stubbs and Gainsborough. The collection includes over 2,000 oil paintings, 3,000 watercolours, 250 sculptures and over 10,000 prints."
Attraction:
Manchester Town Hall
Manchester Town Hall, Manchester, Greater Manchester M60Manchester, England, GB
"This just a beautiful area of Manchester. Manchester town hall itself is an impressive neo-Gothic building built in 1887 and now surrounded by traditional pubs, wine bars and basement clubs, very popular area with workers & shoppers. This area could take days to explore with something on offer to match everybody's tastes."
Attraction:
Saints and Scholars Catering
694 Wilmslow RoadManchester, Manchester, United Kingdom
"The best place to get a Full English Breakfast or a hearty homemade lunch. It doesn't look much from the outside but believe me this place is great, in fact it has become Anonymous's favourite place for .... well he doesn't really make breakfast.... so I suppose it would be "brunch".... but not in the sophisticated sense of the word... more in the "I can't get out of bed and when i do I like to eat my body weight in pork products" sense of the word."
Attraction:
St. Ann's Square and Church
"Beautiful, pedestrianised area of Manchester city centre with great shops and a lovely old church."
Attraction:
The Didsbury Pub
852 Wilmslow RdManchester, Greater Manchester M20 2
"The Didsbury is a traditional enlgish pub, with a great beer garden for the summer months, table candles and real log fires throughout the winter. As with all great traditional pubs they have good food available all day long, with a great range of cask ales plus the best wine list in the area, available by the bottle or generous glass."
Attraction:
The Dog and Partridge
"A great English pub that you absolutely HAVE to try if you want to sample some real (warm) English beer and also understand a little bit more about why Anonymous didn't really achieve anything until she left Didsbury :)"
Attraction:
The Old Wellington
4 Cathedral GatesManchester,, United Kingdom
"Go and have a pint in the oldest building in Manchester! First built in 1552, when Edward VI was on the throne. For you engineering boffs and hisorians, it actually sustained considerable damage as a result of an IRA bomb which devastated the city centre in 1996. At this point the building was dismantled and moved 300 metres towards Manchester Cathedral to fit in with the new city centre plans and the pub re-opened in November 1999."
Attraction:
Warburton Street
"This cute little cobbled street is definitely worth a visit.. but not in heals :)"
Night Life:
Beluga
2 Mount StManchester,, United Kingdom
"If you ever go out for a night when the bride is back in her hometown you will invariably end up in this fantastic cocktail bar.... fantastic fun and just around the corner from 1 Central street - a great place to go for a dance after your cocktail!"
Night Life:

Canal StManchester, England, GB
"A large collection of gay, lesbian & bisexual bars, popular with gays and straights alike. One of the busiest areas of the city centre every night of the week. Especially fantastic in the Summer ... drinking along the canal....LUSH!!"

DeansgateManchester, England, GB
"Definitely a hangout for anyone who enjoys a cocktail...This is the mile long road which runs through the city centre, with a handful of popular bars and restaurants gathered mainly near the designer shops (not to be mistaken with deansgate locks)"
