This is Ruth and Tim's wedding coordinator--I set up their map on wedding mapper so that is why your e-mail came to me. I would be happy to answer your questions since I handled all of the preparations and coordination of the reception at The Ranch House!

The big thing you need to know about this property is that it is a VERY old house that has not been maintained very well. When we were setting up the day before Ruth and Tim's wedding, the septic system was broken and I did not have access to ANY of the sinks in the kitchen area or the restroom in the kitchen. Then, DURING the reception, every stool in the house but 2 stopped up and we had to close off those restrooms. The smell was horrible in the kitchen due to the septic issues but thank goodness I had basically shielded the rest of the house from that area because I had put up draping over the opening to the kitchen. So beware of those issues and check with Layna in advance to make sure everything is working but I can tell you that anything can break on that house at anytime because they do not want to spend the money to update the things that need fixed.

For parking, I started at the front of the house (gravel area) and lined up the cars going back towards the entrance to the house. I left a space down the middle and plenty of space between the rows so cars could back out and exit safely. I also designated two of the bride's cousins to direct parking as people arrived. I coned off a few spaces at the very front for the bride and their family.

The reception ended while there was still daylight so I did not have to worry about lighting but there are ways to put lighting at the entrance such as uplights at the base of trees or wrapping white Christmas lights around the trees. You could even do torches lining the walkway.

We paid an extra fee for my rental company to come back the same night after the reception to take all of the rentals. That is what Layna told me we had to do.

That's interesting about the issues with the house...hadn't even crossed my mind that those things may be a problem!
