They have great specials every night. You can get such a variety of items ranging in style and price that there is something for everyone. They serve a rotating insert, always have different specials and maintain some of the favorites on their traditional menu. A favorite is the smoked chicken fettuccini and red pepper diablo soup. "Tres Hombres is a very popular Downtown Chico institution specializing in Mexican food. When the university is in session this restaurant and bar is always hopping, so good luck getting a table. They do a good job with ordinary “Mexican” fare like tacos and enchiladas. Their margaritas keep locals returning for more. This place is always jumping, and while the food isn’t necessarily “authentic” the atmosphere keeps this spot hopping well into the night. Tres Hombres is popular with locals and students alike."

Gold Nugget Museum

Paradise, CA 95969

"The Gold Nugget Museum is a history museum of the Paradise Ridge in the Sierra-Cascade foothills about 90 miles north of Sacramento. While the Museum covers the full range of human history on the Ridge, its focus is on the Gold Rush years. The largest almost pure gold nugget ever found in California, 54 pounds, was discovered here in 1859. There is no admission fee, although donations are gratefully accepted. The Museum is a community leader in commemorating California's 150th anniversary of the discovery of gold and becoming a state. The Museum's community programs draw visitors from all over California. Gold Nugget Days in April celebrate finding the 54-pound nugget. Days of Living History in September recreate the chores, fun and lifestyles of the past. The Haunted Forest and Pumpkin Land in October offer youngsters thrills and treats, and the Spaghetti Feed and Auction in November is an evening of good food and good fun. The Museum also sponsors the Paradise Pow Wow in June and the Traveling Indian Village, which takes a Native American living history experience to area schools. During the summer months, Saturday and Sunday afternoons are living history with gold panning, a working blacksmith shop and occasional demonstrations of settler chores and crafts, such as candle making, rope making, corn husk dolls, Native American crafts and old-time laundry . The gift shop offers related souvenirs and gifts, such as ironware, candle molds and craft kits."

The first floor has a bar as well as a good food menu, and consists mostly of tables and an arcade. The music played on this floor is usually classic rock. On the second floor, there is a decent size dance floor, and the music here is usually hip hop & house style. There are also some pool tables located on this floor. El Rey Theatre

230 W 2nd St
Chico, CA 95928

"Today, the El Rey lives on as the oldest and largest single-screen theater still standing in Nor-Cal north of Sacramento. Shuttered since 2005, when it was slated for conversion to office space, the El Rey now has a chance for a new life as a multiuse cinema and performing arts center in the heart of downtown Chico. Over its century of use, the theater has weathered numerous changes of name, ownership, exterior façade, and interior décor. The El Rey began life as the Majestic in 1905 as a combination vaudeville house and Elks Lodge in a Neo-Classical Revival style, with attached retail and office space. Within months, the theater began presenting films—a relatively new art form—for 10 cents a ticket."

Theatre On the Ridge

3735 Neal Rd
Paradise, CA, United States

"Theatre on the Ridge was founded in 1975 as an offshoot of a children's program administered by the Paradise Recreation and Parks District. Originally producing one or two productions a year in the local gymnasium, the Theatre expanded to its own location in September 1979. Renovations of an old commercial building were accomplished with all volunteer labor and donations of material and services from the local business community. The first season of regularly scheduled performances began in 1980 with four productions and the sale of season tickets. Since that time, seasons have evolved to produce six shows annually with more than 750 season ticket subscribers for the 101-seat facility."
