Florist:
Daniels' Florist
2829 Jones Franklin RdRaleigh, NC, United States
"I met with Daniel himself, and discussed what I wanted for my bouquets and centerpeices. He was very helpful and honest in giving ideas to keep the cost down and he did not come off as the type to promote the most expensive arrangements, etc. that the florist could provide. They were on time the day of the wedding, and the centerpeices were beautiful. Daniel gave me the option to buy my own glass vases as it is normally cheaper to do that than to buy them from the florist, which you can do if you like. I only had one issue...I had asked for "streamers" just 2 ribbons to hang down my bridesmaids bouquets and they were not on there. I actually had bought ribbon for it specifically and it was not on there at all. Although this was a hiccup they added extra flowers on the tables during cocktail hour, which I did not ask for, but was a nice addition. With this review, keep in mind I only used hydrangeas a very simple set up, that was it, so I do not know how other arrangements would come out. The reason I used this florist is because I was referred to them by a friend's sister. So that is 2 happy customers."

The Umstead Hotel & Spa

"This hotel was spectacular!!! They have wedding down to an art form. From the first day you step in to inquire about your wedding to the week after your wedding you deal with one main person, the Social Catering Manager, Ami Wheeler. She is fantastic and is director for the wedding ceremony, which is included in the price for the ceremony. The setting can't be beat. Cocktail hour was situated outdoor on a terrace and you could also walk inside too. For the reception the food is awesome to say the least...we are still getting compliments on the food. We could get up to 3 different entree selections for everyone, or you have a choice of buffett style. The hotel room you get with the package is a bridal suite, and it is huge and on the ground level so you can look out the window while getting ready and you can see them setting up the ceremony and when your guest start arriving. All I can say is I would not have wanted to have it anywhere else. You also get free run for photos that day in the hotel, the hotel has such a nice setting and so much artwork, you can have photos taken in front of them. It makes for very unique wedding photos. All in all a wonderful place, the entire staff there was great. Sorry it's so long!"

""Char-Grill is truly a Raleigh original, and no visit to the Capital City is complete without stopping in for that delicious, flame-cooked taste." There are a 5 locations, but this is the closest. If you want a great burger and a thick milk shake, this is the place to go. Remember to place your order with a pencil and pad, it's not like other food places, you'll see. =) If you don't see the toppings you want, write it down and they'll put it on there for you. Meals for 2 are under $15, it's a place that George and I go to EVERY time we visit the area. FYI- the only seating is outside at picnic tables."

Only open for breakfast and lunch, but breakfast is served alllll day. Inexpensive southern breakfast, and for those of you not familiar with country ham, be forwarned that it's VERY salty. If that's not what you're looking for you can always try the NC Seafood Market for a huge plate of fried seafood, it's only a 1 minute walk."
