Hotel:
Tarrytown House Estate
49 East Sunnyside LaneTarrytown, NY, United States
"A bit of an odd place. We ended up moving our guests because we weren't able to have our friends meet us at the hotel bar unless they were staying at the hotel (or we paid thousands of dollars to make it a private party)."
Restaurant:
Alias Restaurant
76 Clinton St (@ Rivington St.)Lower East Side

"It's a Korean noodle joint. It's on the 3rd floor above NY Komtang. You can either take the slow elevator, or walk up the stairs. Janet and Ethan both recommend getting noodle flakes (sujebi). Yum! There are many subway stops near here. B/D/F/N/Q/R/V/W to 34th Street Herald Sq. 6 train to 33rd St. Path Train from New Jersey."

New York, NY, United States
"Amazing Korean fried chicken wings! The restaurant is on the 2nd Floor--there isn't signage, so go by the street number (314 5th Ave). We recommend asking for 1/2 spicy and 1/2 ginger-garlic wings. Yumm!!! Oh, one warning--the restaurant feels like a night club... but it's worth bearing the thumping beat for those wings! Take the 6 train to 33rd St. B/D/F/N/Q/R/V/W to 34th St/Herald Sq."
Restaurant:
Caracas Arepa Bar
91 E 7th St (@ 1st Ave)East Village
New York, NY, United States

"Incredibly yummy arepas (Venezuelan sandwiches). Be sure to order at least 2 sandwiches per person. The restaurant is a tiny hole-in-the-wall. If you can't get into the main restaurant, go next door to the take out room. There are some tables in there where you can squeeze into."
Restaurant:
Daisy Mays BBQ USA
623 11th Avenue (@ 46th St.)Times Square

Last time we went it was BYOB, but that may have changed (check with the restaurant). Click the link to read the NYTimes's review. Take the C/E to 50th St. A/C/E to 42nd St/Port Authority or 1/2/3 to Times Sq/42nd St."

Restaurant:
Ippudo Ramen
65 4th Ave (bet. 9th St. & 10th St)East Village

"Janet & Ethan's favorite ramen restaurant. We highly recommend getting the Akamaru Modern ramen with added pork belly and share a tofu hotpot (it's called something like beretsu). If you don't order the tofu hotpot then get the pork buns. In recent months, the pork buns have gotten a bit thinner with the weakening economy, but they're still really good! If you run out of noodles before broth, you can order another ball of noodles. Be prepared to wait approximately 1 hour. If you go during happy hour, they'll have 2 for 1 draft beers. Take the R train to 8th St or 6 train to Astor Place."

Restaurant:
Joe's Shanghai
24 W 56th St (bet. 6th Ave & 5th Ave)Midtown

425 Lafayette StNew York, NY, United States
"Ethan's never been here, but he has been meaning to go."
Attraction:
Brooklyn Bridge
"Fun to walk across but Janet says, "Look out for the bicyclers!" Walkers need to stay on the southern lane and the bikers are on the northern lane. On the Brooklyn side it's Dumbo, on the Manhattan side, you'll be close to City Hall and South Street Seaport. Ethan warns of grifters looking to sell the bridge. It's probably best to start on the Brooklyn side and walk over toward Manhattan. Take the A/C train to High St."
Attraction:
Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate
381 N BroadwaySleepy Hollow, NY, United States
"This hilltop paradise was home to four generations of the Rockefeller family, beginning with the philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, founder of Standard Oil. His business acumen made him, in his day, the richest man in America. Now a historic site of the National Trust, this extraordinary landmark has been continuously and meticulously maintained for almost 100 years. Your tour will take you to the main rooms of the six-story stone house. Then you will move on through the expansive, terraced gardens containing Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller's exceptional collection of 20th-century sculpture. Artists represented include Pablo Picasso, Henry Moore, Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson, and David Smith, among many others. The private, underground art galleries with Governor Rockefeller's collection of Picasso tapestries, and the cavernous Coach Barn, with its collections of classic automobiles and horse-drawn carriages, are also part of the experience."
Attraction:
Rockefeller State Park Preserve
"The most notable feature of the Preserve is the system of carriage roads built by John D. Rockefeller Sr. and John D. Rockefeller Jr. Designed to complement the landscape, the carriage roads, many of which are handicapped accessible, allow visitors to experience and enjoy the natural wonders of the area. These scenic paths wind through wetlands, woodlands, meadows, and fields and past streams, rivers, and lakes. They traverse wood and stone bridges, including the first triple arch bridge in America. One road passes by the foundation of Rockwood Hall, once the 220 room home of William Rockefeller. Its Olmstead designed landscape with its panoramic view of the Hudson River remains a spot of beauty for all who visit."
Attraction:
Staten Island Ferry
Southern most tip of Manhattan"You can take the (free) Staten Island Ferry for a nice float-by view of the Statue of Liberty. Block off about 1 hour to do this loop. The ferry is closest to the R/W train at Whitehall Station."
Museum:
Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum
3237 Vernon BlvdLong Island City, NY, United States
"A beautiful presentation of Noguchi's sculptures."
Museum:
Metropolitan Museum of Art
1000 5th AvenueNew York, NY, United States
"If you only have time for one museum, this is probably the one to go to. (Though if you love contemporary art, PS1 is the place to go). The Met has an immense and varied collection... It easy to get lost, so don't hesitate to ask the guards for directions to the exhibit you want to see. The admission cost is a bit high ($20 for adults, $15 for seniors, $10 for students), but it's a suggested donation, so you could pay less/none if you wished."
Museum:
Museum of Modern Art
11 W 53rd StNew York, NY, United States
"A great museum... If you're peckish, the 2nd floor restaurant is quite good. For finer dining, The Modern (http://www.themodernnyc.com) is supposed to be quite good. Your MoMA ticket will get you free admission to PS1, too."
Museum:
New Museum of Contemporary Art

Museum:
PS1 Contemporary Art Center
2225 Jackson AveLong Island City, NY, United States
"Ethan's favorite museum... It's located in a converted school building and features contemporary art & art installations. It doesn't have a permanent collection, so the art is constantly changing (well, at least changes every 3-4 months). Admission is a deal at $5 ($2 for students & seniors)--free if you have a MoMA ticket stub!"
Museum:
Solomon R Guggenheim Museum
1071 5th AveNew York, NY, United States
"Ethan has mixed feelings about the Guggenheim... the worthwhileness of visit is very dependent on what's currently on show. If you do go, give your legs a break and take the the elevator to the top and walk down (rather than walking up the ramp)."
Museum:
