Hi Alicia,
Congratulations on your wedding! We had an amazing experience with Fr. John and St. Thomas. My parents have been long time parishoners there and at the time Fr. John was the new pastor there. We got married May 2011. For us it was all pretty easy. Fr. John had an incredible sermon (if you are doing the full mass at your wedding). I can't tell you how many people commented on how beautiful the ceremony was and how personable he was. We have quite a few family and friends who are not catholic and he made the all feel very welcome and his sermon was very down to earth and one that everyone can relate to. Now, he is definitely very straight forward and has a dry sense of humor, but we were not bothered by it and like I said found everything pretty easy to work with. If you have any specific questions about anything let me know. He defintiely makes it very known that drinking prior to your wedding is a big no no, but he went over that with us at the rehearsal. We also the engagement encounter weekend class which St. Thomas recommended at we found it very beneficial as well.
