I am happy to help and answer in any way I can! Rome was an absolutely perfect place for us to get married and I'm sure wherever you decide to have your reception it will be beautiful! We had about 85 people from the US, Europe, and Asia (mostly from the US). We LOVED Villa Miani but you are correct in thinking it is one of the more pricey venues in Rome. They ask for a "rental fee" on top of charging you per guest. There are also a lot of "add ons" and taxes to think about as well. We had our reception on the top floor which had the balcony overlooking the city...AMAZING views! We had a jazz band for the cocktail hour (about 2 hours) and a DJ for the remaining. I do recommend a wedding planner as it is VERY difficult to get around planning with your vendors. Unfortunately they sometimes try to take advantage of foreigners and you'll save more money having a planner negotiate for you. Our planner is an American living in the North of Italy but she plans weddings all over Italy. She gave a great price compared to other planners. I've discussed this with other brides to be (I've had a few people contact me) and my recommendation for picking a planner is to make sure you are VERY specific about what you want. Also, if your planner is Italian be prepared for a very laid back style. That's why we went with an American because she understood when we asked for urgency and promptness in responses. One woman I spoke to was frustrated with her Italian planner. If you want our wedding planners info I would be happy to give it to you.
Oh, the place where we had our cocktail party does weddings also and was beautiful (Babette Ristorante)! May be more reasonable. When are you planning to get married?

I'm sure you have received pricing already. They are more expensive than other venues but an amazing choice for the reception. I recommend using a wedding planner to help you out with all aspects of the wedding if you are not from Italy and/or do not speak the language. It was extremely helpful and a lot less stressful.
