February, 2011 in Savannah

"Our Savannah wedding was a dream! We live a few hours away in Florida, and the cooler weather and slower pace of the historic district was very appealing to us. While we did (budgetarily) have to have a very short list of guests (under 50), everything else about the weekend was perfect. Almost all of our guests came one to two days before the wedding, allowing us time to hang out and include them in our pre-wedding activities. Having everything (venue, salon, dining, etc...) in a location that was so central to each other helped us spend the most time with family and friends closest to us. It rained for an hour or two the morning of our rehearsl, but the remainder of the weekend we had beautiful sun and temps in the 60's.

I wish we could do it over and over! :-)"

"Wow! Milissa at M Sweet did a fantastic job on the dozens of mini-cupcakes we ordered -- we decided to do a dessert table, rather than the traditional wedding cake. She delivered them to our venue at 109 West in the historic district of Savannah, and worked with our friend to set up the most appealing dessert table I've seen since my last cruise. The price was very budget friendly, and they tasted delicious!"

"Since we planned our Savannah wedding from Florida, without knowing anyone in Savannah, we did pretty much everything online. If you've searched for an officiant online for the Savannah area, I'm sure you've come across lots of information on Rev. Schulte. I spent hours reviewing everything I could find on him, and looking for anything that discredited what I was reading. I found only great reviews, and after he performed our wedding, I have only great things to say about him myself. He ws great to work with prior to the wedding, and we met him at our rehearsal the day before the wedding. He had us in stitches at the rehearsal, and did an absolutely beautiful job at the ceremony itself. Rev. Schulte is simply wonderful!"

"B Street Salon saved my sanity, not to mention my hair for our wedding. A salon I had booked months before the wedding, called the a 4 days prior to our wedding to say that they would be unable to do our wedding party. After a very quick, but intensive search, B Street Salon came highly recommended from a friend of a friend that I just learned lives in Savannah. They graciously worked me and my party into the schedule (including a trial, just one day after I called). Stylist, Whitney, was wonderful and did a magnificent job with my hair and makeup -- as well as putting up with my entourage. :-) The whole experience went from being the only thing that stressed me in planning the wedding, to being a great source of relaxation and confidence. Thanks Whitney & B Street Salon!"

"109 West was the PERFECT choice! The home does look just as good in person as in the photos (which are great). We held our ceremony in the courtyard between the Main House and the Carriage House - with the wedding party and parents on the courtyard level, and grandmothers and other guests on the porch and staircase. I used the Carriage House as the bridal suite and the bridal attendants and I both got dressed there and made our grand entrance down that staircase. The weather was glorious in the 60's. We had the reception dinner at the Lady & Sons, then everyone returned to 109 West for cake (really dozens of mini-cupcakes), coffee, beer, wine and slow dancing. :-) Helen & Robbie couldn't have been any more delightful to work with. The day could not have been any better!"

"We had the dinner portion of our reception at the Lady & Sons. For budgetary purposes, we initially planned for this to be regular reservations for dinner (with us hosting, of course). However, it was only an additional $200 to move our group to a reserved room, with our own serving staff, buffet, music & restrooms. While I wish we had been allowed to drop off our centerpieces more than 1/2 hour prior to our event -- I can't really complain, due to the reasonable price of the space. And, 2 aunts and a friend were nice enough to arrive early with our completed floral centerpieces and the escort cards that I had made. Again, everything worked wonderfuly. The room was beautiful, the food was yummy and the staff was very welcoming."

"The Hilton was ideal for our overflow guests, as it was one block from our 109 West wedding headquarters. The rooms were great, and at least two of our guests raved about the spectacular views from their rooms."

"Linda at River House Seafood made sure we had exactly the Rehearsal/Welcome dinner we wanted. As so many folks were coming into town on Thursday and Friday (deciding to make a long weekend of it themselves), we chose to turn the Rehearsal Dinner into a Welcome Dinner for our wedding party and all other guests who were in town (which was all but four of our total wedding guest count). We had a casual dinner. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely, and the food was wonderful -- especially the pecan pie (even ended up buying my Dad one to keep in his room for the weekend)."
