Jardim Botanico
Jardim Botânico, Rio de Janeiro - RJRio, Rio de Janeiro, BR
"The Botanical Garden. They have golf carts every hour to make a tour and english is spoken. Great scenario to happy endings of brazilian soap operas! Official info: Jardim Botânico (English: Botanic Garden) is a residential neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, located north of Ipanema and Leblon, just across Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas and east of Gávea. Jardim Botânico lies in the affluent "Zona Sul" (South Zone) of Rio de Janeiro. The district got its name as it grew around the city's world-famous Botanical Garden. The residents are generally upper to upper-middle class and do not live near a favela, which is rare in the city. It differs from most of Rio's neighbourhoods due to the large number of large detached houses, again not that common in the densely populated south zone. It is home to many Brazilian celebrities and the headquarters of the nation-wide television network, Rede Globo. Many of Rede Globo's studios are in the neighborhood. The main road in the borough is the Rua Jardim Botanico (Jardim Botanico Street). The neighborhood leads to Rio de Janeiro's large Tijuca Forest, using a road that winds up through the mountainous forest. One of Rio de Janeiro's most famous carnaval blocs parades annually through the streets of Jardim Botanico. The bloc calls itself "Suvaco do Cristo", which translates to "Armpit of the Christ" because Jardim Botânico lies right underneath the right armpit of Rio de Janeiro's most prominent landmark, world famous Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue."
Attraction:
Maracana Stadium
Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro - RJRio, Rio de Janeiro, BR
"If you like soccer, that's the place to visit. They have a museum, hall of fame, and the chance to step on the field. English is spoken. Official info: The Estádio Jornalista Mário Filho, commonly called Estádio do Maracanã ("Maracanã stadium"), is an open-air stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Owned by the Rio de Janeiro State Government, it is named after the Maracanã neighbourhood in Rio de Janeiro. It was opened in 1950 to host the FIFA World Cup. Since then, it has mainly been used for football matches between the major football clubs in Rio de Janeiro, including Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense and Vasco da Gama. It has also hosted a number of concerts and other sporting events. Although the paid attendance at the final game of the 1950 FIFA World Cup was 199,854, the stadium currently seats 95,000 spectators.[1] Despite the reduction in capacity, it remains the largest stadium in South America. It is due to host the World Cup Final in the 2014 World Cup, becoming the second stadium to host football's most important match twice after the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City."
Attraction:
Parque Lage
Rua Jardim Botânico, 414Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil
"Where Anonymous proposed to me! ;D They have an ansome restaurant by the way and a great view from Christ. Snoop Dog shooted his video "Beautiful" there. Official info: Parque Lage (in full "Parque Enrique Lage") is a public park in the city of Rio De Janeiro, located in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood at the foot of the Corcovado. The atrium of the mansion with café.The land was formerly the residence of industrialist Enrique Lage and his wife, singer Anonymous Bezanzoni. During the 1920's Lage had the mansion remodeled by Italian architect Mario Vodrel, with interior paintings by Salvador Payols Sabaté. In the 1960's the land became a public park, with walking trails through subtropical forest. The Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage (Visual Arts School of Parque Lage) and a café open to the public operate from the former mansion."
