The venue could NOT have been better for us! It was absolutely perfect for the wedding we wanted. We visited the Buffalo Inn multiple times while planning, and there was another reception in there one of the times we went. The hall didn't seem as good a good fit for their style, but it was perfect for us. What style are you going for?

We had about 150 people, and while the Buffalo Inn is supposed to hold 200 people, it will only do so if you do not want a dance floor. As it is, we did not have a lot of space for the dance floor, but since it was a beautiful day, about half the guests were outside at any given moment, so there weren't many people dancing anyway.

We had hired Twin Oaks, out in White Oak, to do the catering, but then a friend of ours said she wanted to do the catering for us. The home-cooked food fit in better with the feel we were trying to create, so we went with it. The buffet bar is a lot longer than what you will need for your food. We set up a cookie table on one end and the buffet on the other.

If I could suggest just ONE vendor--my baker was SO awesome! Beautiful cake just the way we wanted it, and LOTS of it--and the best I've ever had! Her white almond cake is addictive, and even a week after cutting into it, it was still moist! We ordered a good-sized three-tier cake, a groom's cake, and two full sheet cakes. She delivered and set up the whole thing for $350, and there was enough cake for twice as many guests as we had. Her name is Shelley. Look for Pearl's Unique Cakes on the web.

We should be getting our photos back soon. When we do, I'll post them online. You'll be able to see how the hall and gazebo were decorated. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

I'm glad it worked out so well for you and everything was perfect! I plan on going there tomorrow and checking everything out to see if I think it will hold our families. haha

The style that we're going for is pretty laid back. I didn't want anything too fancy, but I would rather just have a fun wedding without too many worries. I think we'll probably hire a caterer and maybe do a few simple things, like salad or something, ourselves. But who knows, maybe someone will step up and offer to cook for us!

I would love to see your pictures whenever you get them back to see your decorating and everything! I LOVE your cake and I may have to look into that baker!

Also, I have another question... Where did you have your rehearsal dinner? And did you rent the gazebo the night before your wedding to do the rehearsal?

Sorry it has taken so long for me to respond--I was waiting for my photos, then life was a little busy around here. For the rehearsal dinner, we wound up getting barbecue from a local business ( http://www.rowdybbq.com/CateringService.html ) and taking it back to our home. We had tried the South Park Clubhouse, but we both felt ill after eating there. We both love Pasta Too, but it gets too busy. It's tough to find a decent place for the rehearsal dinner in that neighborhood, which is why we chose take-out catering.

As far as renting the gazebo the night before--we just used the space, no reservation. You can probably get away with doing the same thing.
