If you are looking to do some watersports, Jericho Beach is the place. Jericho Sailing Center offers kayak and windsurfing lessons. If you are planning on heading out this way, consult a tide chart (http://www.dairiki.org/tides/monthly.php/van) as low tide allows walking out a long way out, but high tide brings the seals closer to shore. Jericho is also home to a huge population of formerly-domesticated-rabbits, and crows. The crows can be seen breaking open mussels by dropping them from a height onto the old concrete pier. Most of the crows don't stay at the beach at night, and each evening during the summer hundreds fly over our apartment at dusk heading from the beach to their roosting spot in Burnaby.
