"My husband and I had our wedding at Maymont. The ceremony was in The Italian Garden and the reception on the West Terrace of the Nature Center. It was all so incredibly beautiful and we loved every minute of our wedding. The ceremony was wonderful and we were able to save money on flowers because we required no decorations for that area, the garden was enough! They also have a horse and carriage that bring the father of the bride and the bride to the ceremony and then the bride and groom away from the ceremony after. I had about 100 people, with immediate family members sitting in the 32 chairs provided. You can only seat that exact number. Everybody else stands. It was just fine because the ceremony lasted only about 12 minutes. Overall, the ceremony was perfect. The reception location is wonderful because it overlooks the hills in the park. It's so picturesque, and there's even some bison that you can see! The tent that is provided worked fine, but I would suggest getting a pole covers and covering the inside of the tent, the roof part. We had plenty of room for all of our guests to eat, we had a dance floor, and bar tables out under the stars (the portion of the terrace that wasn't covered by the tent). If you want alcohol, which we did, you have to get a license from the ABC, but it was easy to do and inexpensive. Everything went perfectly and I have no regrets. Maymont was an amazing location and I recommend that people get married there! It's just gorgeous!"

Some 500 vendors from around the country set up at beautiful Byrd Park, in the shadow of the 240-foot Carillon, Virginia's memorial to her World War I dead (constructed when they actually believed that war would end all wars). Interested out-of-town guests are advised simply to take a cab from hotel; parking is tough."
