"Carytown is a brilliant retail development that was never planned. Today it's Carytown, a vibrant line of (still) mostly independent retailers and cafes that stretches unchecked along that same portion of West Cary Sreet. Carytown has survived, indeed thrived, contrary to flight to homogeneous suburban malls, and local politicians who just didn't get it. We suggest our guests can visit this neighborhood (see link above), both for shopping and nourishment, perhaps Saturday afternoon before the reception, or brunch Sunday. Pleasantly walkable."

Katherine and Robert's Wedding

Mark and Kate's Wedding
Richmond   |   August, 2008   |   Entertainment

"Carytown is a nine block shopping center extending from the Powhite Parkway to the Boulevard. There are more than 300 stores, restaurants, and professional offices lining both sides of Cary Street and along the side streets. The Byrd Theater, a staple of Kate's childhood, plays second-run movies for $1.99. From antiques to CDs to clothing to furniture, you'll find just about anything you desire in the distinctive shops and boutiques along these blocks."

Laurelyn and Stephen's Wedding
Richmond   |   June, 2008   |   Entertainment

"Cary Street from Thompson to Boulevard is known as Carytown. There are a lot of one-of-a-kind stores and eateries along this stretch. Wear comfortable shoes and park in one of the free decks or lots on the side streets."

Kristin and John's Wedding
Richmond   |   May, 2008   |   Attractions

"Carytown is a brilliant retail development that was never planned. In the 70s, John used to ride his bike along the skinny sidewalks of what was then simply "that part of Cary Street" (his friends in Windsor Farms usually rode west), and would poke his head into the occasional quiet merchant.
