The Cliff Walk along the eastern shore of Newport, RI is world famous as a public access walk that combines the natural beauty of the Newport shore line with the architectural history of Newport's gilded age. Wildflowers, birds, geology ... all add to this delightful Walk.

One of our favorite activities in Newport is to walk along the cliff walk. A beautiful view of both the ocean and Newport's mansions. Keep an eye out for Astors' Beechwood!

Arrayed along bluffs and seawalls a dozen yards or so above the Atlantic, the Cliff Walk provides gorgeous views of water, waves and rocks--and an occasional glimpse of a few of Newport's seaside monuments to the Gilded Age: the Breakers, Rosecliff, Beechwood, Marble House. Mansion views and entrances will often be obscured by fences or shrubbery, so use Bellevue Avenue and adjacent streets to make your mansion visits.
