The largest independent bookstore the country has ever seen! From humble storefront beginnings in 1971 on a derelict corner of northwest Portland, Oregon, Powell's Books has grown into one of the world's great bookstores, with seven locations in the Portland metropolitan area, and one of the book world's most successful dot-coms (www.powells.com), serving customers worldwide.

Powell's City of Books has been a Portland landmark for more than thirty years and its warehouse-like store holds more books than any reader could dream of. Though there are now seven Powell's stores around Portland, this one remains the largest and most impressive. This Powell's location sits on the edge of the trendy Pearl District which provides shopping and restaurants. From here we'll return to the hotel on the streetcar.
