The heart of the French Quarter. Carriage rides, great restaurants, street artists and a brass band or two. ;) Museums: Presbytere and Cabildo.

Jackson Square, as symboled by the historic Andrew Jackson statue in the center, is essentially, the central point in the French Quarter. Its borders are Decateur Street, St. Peter Street, St. Ann Street, and Chartres Street. The back end is Pirates Alley, which leads to the famous Royal Street, known for its art galleries and antique shops. The focal point of Jackson Square is the St. Louis Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in North America. A nice view of the square and the cathedral is from across Decateur Street on the patio, which also overlooks the river on the opposite side. Look across the street, and you can see the full square, with the cathedral, along with horses and buggies lined up waiting to escort tourists around the city. Great kodak moment!
