Valerie and Patrick's Wedding
New Orleans   |   December, 2013   |   Live Music

"Live, world class music every night of the week. Too many music clubs to list everything but some highlights are: DBA, Spotted Cat, Blue Nile, Maison There is also a great outdoor artists market most nights."

"Frenchmen Street is what Bourbon Street used to be 60 years ago – an eclectic mix of authentic music bars from the area populated almost exclusively by New Orleans’ locals. This is my favorite area of the city, and features the best TRUE New Orleans music you’ll find. Make sure to walk down to Decatur Street and take Decatur up to Esplanade/Frenchmen Street for the safest route. Once down there, walk around and take in the sounds and find a band you like. Music will start around 6pm nightly and not end until the wee hours of the morning. Favorite clubs down here include Balcony Music Club, The Maison, Blue Nile, Spotted Cat Music Club, and D.B.A."

New Orleans Wedding In October
New Orleans   |   October, 2011   |   Attraction

"Frenchman Street is a compact musical enclave where the “locals” hang out. A two-block-long entertainment district where, on any given night of the week – including normally dead Mondays – you can hear live sounds and a wide variety of music as only New Orleans musicians can perform. Best of all on Frenchmen Street the drinks are cheap and admission to most of these clubs is free! The only thing you’ll be asked to do is tip the bands generously; or, as they say, make a contribution to Philip (as in “Fill up the tip jar”). In some of these venues, that’s the only money they make, so you’ll be making a worthy contribution toward keeping the music of New Orleans alive."

"The "R" bar. Haircuts available on Mondays."

"One of the best places to find local music almost any time of the day. A terrific alternative to the crowds on Bourbon St., Frenchman is where you'll find the local crowds."

"From Decatur to Royal and environs. A great bet for great live music, mingling with locals, and catching a good meal."

""Dubbed as Frenchmen Street's best-kept secret, the cozy Apple Barrel Bar offers live jazz or blues every night of the week. The bar's acoustics are so good that some local artists have actually recorded here - our local haunt." Upstairs, dine at Adolfo's - for a fish of the day cooked your way, rack of lamb, pasta, bring your own vino. D.B.A.: good music venue across the street, often no-cover shows, large selection of beer...but overpriced. Tuesday nights with drummer Johnny Vidacovich can prove stellar."
