Chicago Wedding In October
"Macy's on State Street is the second largest department store in the world and is recognized as a National Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Customers can shop and dine their way through the twelve-floor building that has been a tradition for generations of Chicagoans. Visit this Macy's flagship destination and experience history come to life every day."
Weekend Wedding
"Huge tourist strip! Twenty-four Hollywood McDonald's, Ed Debevics, Hard Rock Cafe, etc. Best to avoid the touristy stops and go off to the side streets--much better food and architecture!"
Josh and Lauren's Wedding
"State Street became a shopping destination during the 1900s and is referred to in the song "Chicago," sung by Frank Sinatra where Frank refers it to "State Street, that great street." In 1979, Mayor Jane Byrne converted the downtown portion into a pedestrian mall with only bus traffic allowed. Mayor Richard M. Daley oversaw the State Street Revitalization Project and on November 15, 1996, the street was reopened to traffic. State Street is also home to Macy's, but it will forever be Marshall Field's to the people of Chicago. The architecture on this building is astounding and the history is remarkable, so if you have some time to spare, check it out. But please, just don't call it Macy's."
Weekend Wedding
"You can find lots of great restaurants and shops in the "Viagra Triangle"."

"This is where Chicago starts, at 0 North/East/South/West. The street is lined with shopping, restaurants, theaters, whatever you wish. Go North or South from this point and you have everything."
Weekend Wedding
"It's really not Macy's, not to a Chicagoan. It's Marshall Field's. If you stop in, you must check out possibly the largest Tiffany mosaic work ever."
Chicago Wedding In May
"Where Erika found her wedding dress! One of Chicago's most historic department stores. Originally Marshall Field's, the building still bears its historic Field's nameplates and clocks on the outside. Inside, don't miss the Tiffany ceiling (5th floor). Good food court on the 7th floor."

Themi and Brian's Wedding
"Macy's department store took over Chicago's historic Marshall Field's emporium on Sept. 9, 2006. Macy's was founded in 1858 by Rowland Hussey Macy. With its new acquisitions opening this September, the New York retailer will have more than 800 stores in 45 states. Offerings include men's and women's casual and designer apparel, jewelry, perfume, shoes, housewares, bedding, appliances, handbags and more. Opened in 1907, this emporium has always been one of Chicago's most elegant shopping environments. The store's northern courtyard, with its multi-storied colonnade and a skylight, is a dead ringer for an Italian palazzo. The southern courtyard is capped by a dazzling Tiffany mosaic. A third courtyard, in the middle of the building, is a modern design with criss-crossing escalator banks and a working fountain. Past the perfume and jewelry counters on the first floor, you'll find just about everything you'll need to outfit your body and home--casual and designer clothing, shoes, furniture, appliances, linens and fancy foods. Although worth the trip any time of year, you really haven't done justice to the State Street location until you've mingled with the crowds during the height of the Christmas season. The windows are decorated with elaborate animated scenes along the length of State Street. Inside, the halls are decked with festive holiday trimmings. For a break from shopping, head to the wood-paneled Walnut Room. Lunch, including old-fashioned chicken pot pie, is served there beneath an enormous Christmas tree--it's a Chicago tradition, as is the long, long wait for a table "under" the tree. (A tip: You can see the tree just fine from anywhere in the room.) The store also has a visitor's center on the seventh floor that offers a complimentary self-guided audio tour detailing the life of Marshall Field through photographs and artifacts."
