"Operated by the Atlanta History Center, the Margaret Mitchell House features guided tours of the apartment where Margaret Mitchell wrote Gone With the Wind, a Gone With the Wind movie exhibition, an exhibition showcasing the life and times of one of America’s most famous authors, and the Margaret Mitchell gift shop. Throughout the year, enjoy a variety of programs presented by the Literary Center at the Margaret Mitchell House. Designed to honor and preserve the legacy of Margaret Mitchell, the Literary Center hosts regular programs with award-winning authors, as well as annual creative writing classes for adults and youth, and community initiatives that engage younger generations in the process of writing, reading, and reciting literature, such as the Big Read and Poetry Out Loud"

"The Margaret Mitchell House and Museum was the home of author Margaret Mitchell. The house was known as the Crescent Apartments when she and her husband lived in Apt. 1 on the ground floor from 1925 to 1932. While living here, she wrote the bulk of her Pulitzer prize-winning novel, Gone with the Wind. 2011 marks the 50-year anniversary of the novel."

"Walk through Mitchell's apartment No. 1--the cramped one-bedroom space that she affectionately called "the Dump"--and you'll get a taste of her life and times. The tour begins with a look at Mitchell's newspaper columns from early in her career, continues with a walk-through of the apartment (her typewriter is on display) and continues with a photography exhibit and collection of Mitchell's personal letters. You'll learn about the house's history and hear great anecdotes from Mitchell's eclectic life."

"Margaret Mitchell's one and only novel, "Gone with the Wind," was born in an apartment in this turn-of-the-century Tudor Revival mansion. Now a museum on the National Register of Historic Places, the house offers visitors a 90-minute guided tour that tells the story of the author, the Pulitzer Prize-winning book and the making of the movie."

"For all the literature fans out there, Margaret Mitchell - author of Gone with the Wind - put her pen to paper right from this house."
Atlanta Wedding In July
"If you are a fan of the movie or the book, the home of Gone With the Wind author, Margaret Mitchell, is worth seeing. The house is right up the road from where the movie premiered (at the Fox Theater) and remains one of Atlanta's claims to fame."
