Coopertown Airboats is a great choice if you want to get out of the city and see what the Everglades has to offer. It is owned by a very close friend of my Grandpa Johnny, and he spend a lot of his time out there on the airboats. Take an airboat tour or stop by the restaurant for a local delicacy--frog legs! I can promise that they're the best in the Everglades. :)

A number of airboat operators along eighth street will take you on an adventure through the "river of grass". (Any of them are fine; I just marked the first one on the map - but keep driving and you will see many more!) You will see a ton of wildlife, birds, and, of course, alligators. Tours offered from 30 minutes to an hour.
