The Shady Grove Metro Stop is walking distance (or you can take the Shuttle Bus... lazy) from the Hotel. Its about a 45 minute ride into DC where you can tour around and see the National Christmas Tree, The Capitol Christmas Tree (usually better), go ice skating in the National Sculpture Garden, and tour the various museums in the Nations Capital.
