Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center is open year round, seven days per week from 9 AM to 4:45 PM. The Canal Clipper has been under restoration and when complete offers rides and shows visitors the lock system along the canal and tells what life was like on the Potomac in the 1820s. Follow the path that takes you to the observation island. There are gorgeous views and if the water is high, the walk over the bridge takes you right through the spray. If you have time, try the Billy Goat Trail. The is great fun but you should have a few hours to dedicate to this. Wear solid shoes.
