San Jose's Tech Museum of Innovation is designed to inspire children's scientific curiosity, but adults who began as chaperones invariably find themselves becoming enthralled participants. Outside the mango-colored building is a tremendous, hypnotic Rube-Goldberg type of perpetual motion machine, famous for perplexing visitors for hours at a time with its spinning whirligigs and bouncing doohickeys. Inside is an array of hands-on exhibits employing scientific principles that yield exciting results for kids and grown-ups alike. Also, don't miss the IMAX theater, showing films on an enormous screen that literally fills your field of vision, an experience that you're not likely to forget soon.
