You'll not only find beautiful views but a lot of history here. Climbing out of his boat and onto shore in 1542, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo stepped into history as the first European to set foot on what is now the West Coast of the United States.

Located on the lofty point where Cabrillo first made landfall are a Visitor Center focused on Spanish exploration and the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. This is also a favorite spot to view the gray whale migrations in fall.
