Hello all,
My fiance and I got engaged on Valentines Day and are thinking of getting married on the beach at sunset in Port Aransas in July. We are headed to Port A next weekend to scout out reception sites. Can you tell me where you chose to have your reception and why?

Thanks!
Melanie & Joey

Hi again Melanie!

I wanted to let you know, that you inspired me (had forgotten about this site)! I have started advertising my wedding decorations/favors on this site. When you have a moment, please take a look at my listing and/or website: baerfeatcreations.com.

I also added some more photos from our wedding to show off T. DeAndas photo style.

I will be keeping an eye on your planning ~ again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!, to you and Joey both.

Hey Melanie...my fiance and I are also thinking about getting married in Port Aransas in July...have you had any luck in finding a venue? I'm thinking of doing a beach wedding...have you seen any information on anything like that in Port A? Thanks!

Hi Shelley,
I'm sorry it took me so long to reply to your message! I haven't been on this site in awhile. Well, after visiting about 7 different venues in one weekend, my fiance and I decided we are going to get married at Island Moorings Yacht Club at the Marina. We had originally thought we wanted to get married on the beach, but logistically, it seemed difficult (w/ parking, reserving a spot on the beach all day, etc.). I've included a picture of Island Moorings. It's reasonably priced, there's plenty of parking, and it's a great-indoor outdoor option. Let me know if you would like the contact info for it. A couple of other great spots we looked at w/ beach access, if you still want to do a beach wedding and then have a reception indoors, are The Sandcastle and Mayan Princess. I can also recommend a great wedding coordinator, caterer, and cake baker, if you need them. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info Melanie...well after we talked more about it and looked at all the other options we decided on Las Vegas. It's my second wedding and his third, so we decided to just elope! I hope everything goes well with your wedding! Good luck to you in both your wedding and your marriage! I hope you both have a long happy life together! Thanks again!

Hi Melanie - My daughter wants to get married in Port A in October, 2009. We are just starting to plan the wedding. Like you, she wanted to get married on the beach but is also open to other ideas. Especially now that she wants about 150 people to attend! I see that you choose Island Moorings, can you tell me what you liked about it? Also, are you doing the reception there as well? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to do this from Kansas City and Austin with both of us extremely busy with work! Thanks!!!

Yes, we are doing the reception there too. We are inviting 150 guests as well, and we had trouble finding a reception site that could hold that many (the only other one we found was the Sandcastle's conference room). Island Moorings has space for 250 people! I liked that it had indoor/outdoor options for guests to sit (it holds about 30 indoors and the rest outdoors on the 3 decks). It has a great kitchen for caterers to use. The pool is really pretty and there are beautiful palm trees complete with twinkle lights that they turn on at night. You could hold the reception there and still have the wedding on the beach. We decided we are just going to take pictures on the beach either right after the ceremony and/or the next morning, because we didn't want to have to haul all our guests to two different locations, esp. when the beach is likely to be really crowded in July. It would probably be a lot easier in October for you guys. Contact Debbie Dean for more info. Here is their web site: www.islandmoorings.net

I've been looking at the Lighthouse Inn at Aransas Bay...it's actually in Rockport and not on the beachfront, it's on the bay, but it looks nice and it's not bad at all affordability wise. Let me know if anyone else out there has used this venue! Thanks.

Hello!
My fiance and I are planning our wedding for October 2009 in Port Aransas. We would like to do it on the beach at sunset. We are expecting about 50-100 people. We are envisioning a short, casual ceremony on the beach with a reception after at a location yet to be determined. Does anyone know of any beach spots that would be good ones? Does a spot need to be "reserved" or do we just pick a spot and hope it works on that day? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks! Barb
