Good Place for Rehearsal Dinner

Love_birds

Anyone know of a good place for a rehearsal dinner? We have looked a few places and are not impressed. My fiance's mother wants a nice place and so far we are not getting anywhere. We will have between 100-120 people.

Thanks,
Laura

We're having ours at the County Line on Bee Caves. We're only having about a 100 but they can fit up to 200. County Line on 2222 is really nice too for pictures cause it's right on the river.

We did the Salt Lick and it was money! Great atmosphere. Had about 120 people. Only tricky thing was alcohol and transportation but it all worked out!

We are going to Threadgill's because it has a lot of Austin spirit and the food is great!

Salt Lick is catering my reception. I can't wait! Their BBQ is amazing. You really can't find any better.

Hi, Laura,

With a crowd that large, you might want to consider a venue other than a restaurant...like a country club? I'm thinking you'll struggle to find a restaurant that can accommodate such a large group. A country club will have a larger space where everyone can be together. Two I like in northwest Austin are Balcones Country Club and Twin Creeks Country Club. I'm having my reception at the latter. I'm sure there are clubs in other areas of the city that might work, too. Just an idea! :)

Best wishes -

Katie

My husband and I had to compromise with his mother. We wanted County Line BBQ and she wanted the Driskill Hotel. We ended up meeting in the middle and having our dinner at Z Tejas on 6th. They have a private party room that accomodates 70 people for a seated dinner and the prices are not outrageous. Great wines and liquor, FANTASTIC food. We had such a wonderful time. Kimberley Gensheimer was the person who set us up. She was great. I had no worries that things would get done correctly.

We had ours at the Driskill. It is very nice, but on the more expensive side so it would depend on your budget. We had about 80 people so we held our dinner in the Maximillian room with cocktails in the Mezzanine (all on the second floor of the hotel). With 100 people or more, they can do the dinner in the mezzanine itself which is beautiful with cocktails in one of the smaller rooms. Or they have a really nice ballroom as an option as well. Emily Taylor is the catering manager and she is really awesome.

Best of luck!
Cindy

My fiance and I are having our rehearsal dinner in August at Thistle Cafe on the corner of Sixth & Lavaca. You will not be disappointed with the service or food here. Herman is the primary contact for special events and he is absolutely amazing to work with. The main thing that I love about this place is that on Fridays and Saturdays, they are open EXCLUSIVELY for private events...so you get the whole place to yourself! They definitely have enough room for your amount of people (we are only having close to 50 at our rehearsal dinner, but are not even taking up half of the restaurant). On top of having the whole place to yourself, you get a free tasting of 3, possibly more, entrees, and you can customize it however you like. I am actually more excited about our rehearsal dinner than the reception, just because we had so many options for food, and it was all delicious. You should definitely give them a call if you haven't already found something :) Their website is www.thistlecafe.com. Good luck finding a place...I had such a hard time finding the perfect place, and this is definitely a wonderful choice :)

We did Threadgills and it was great - we had the room with the stage which was great for toasts and it felt like it was our place. - Great for folks that haven't been to austin before too.
