I am looking for an affordable venue for my wedding reception in Newport. We are looking to spend about $20,000. Can anyone suggest a few place I might go see. I've always wanted to get married in the Newport area, b/c it was a place where my family and I would always vacation in, but i am finding that newport is very $$expensive$$.

Try the Eisenhower House. Depending on the size of your wedding it could work out. If you're over a certain number of people you need to bring in a tent (which can be pricey) but the facility charge is reasonable and you can pick your own caterer and supply your own booze to cut down on costs.

I would recommend Ocean Cliff to anyone. They are absolutely amazing and if you have your event on a Friday or Sunday you get the same staff, same food and same venue at half the price.

The Atlantic Beach Club in Middletown. Right on the beach, affordable, beautiful ballroom facing the ocean with panoramic view.

Regatta Place on a Friday or Sunday. Melissa is great to work with.

Also, try the National Parks. They were affordable, but you have to bring in a lot and deal with the possibility of bad weather.

Yes, OceanCliff is amazing, but my sister got married there in 2007. Wanted to do a different venue.

Newport can be expensive but if you are willing to look at off days (Fri and Sun for instance) you can get great venues at less pricing. I also think that most is negotiable at this point as the economy has been tough and venues are looking for weddings!! We got married at Oceancliff and it was the most beautiful venue in our minds, classic yet very newport. Also try looking at the Easton's Beach Rotunda and Fort Adams state park, both are a little less expensive but do require you bringing all of the vendors to the location.

GOOD LUCK!

There are so many places to check out in Newport, RI but yes, they do get costly depending on the type of stmosphere and theme that you are looking for. I will give you a couple of links here, one is to look at some of the places around Newport, and another is for a good photographer that I used when I got married there. The photographer's name is Phillip Brunelle and he is out of Massachusetts, but travels to weddings anywhere in New England, and unlike other photographers he is very affordable! Okay, here are the links below...

As a Newport Event Planner my best advice is to consider a Friday or Sunday. A venue that also has the food/tables on site. This will keep your cost down.(rentals) Good Luck
