Hi.. I have been engaged for about 8 months now, and we are JUST NOW looking for the place to get married.. I know I have waited a long time, especially since our dream date is in June of 2010.. I live in between Rochester and Buffalo New York, and have families in both cities.. I am looking for someplace nice that I could get married outside, but inside if weather is bad, and some place where I can have the wedding and reception at the same location.. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and I appreciate any help..

Hi,

I would say it depends on what type of wedding you are going for. When I was looking around I liked the idea of rustic and found some cute places such as the Genesee Country Village & Museum (they have a barn you can decorate) and I believe you can get married there as well as have your reception, but I would check that out. Also, depending on your budget there is the Rochester Museum and Science Center that looks beautiful from wedding pictures I've seen and they have the gardens out back that you might be able to get married in.

Depending on the size of your wedding and number of guests, the Rabbit Room in Honeoye Falls is beautiful and you could get married at Mendon Ponds Park down the road if the weather is good or in the upstairs Art Gallery at the Rabbit Room. I loved this place but it was a little too small for our wedding size.

I don't think you have anything to worry about just now with reserving your site, I planned our wedding in approximately 8 months and it turned out beautifully.

Good luck!

Check out the Colgate Divinity School! You can have the ceremony and reception all in one place. The outside grounds are GORGEOUS (tree swing, great view of the city, amazing sunset, stone verandas & patios). They also have an indoor chapel with an antique organ. Anyone can get married there - secular or religious - no requirements. The interior hall has super high ceilings with hardwood floors and amazing carving work - very turn of the century. The food is super delicious too.

It's best seen in person. It's right on Goodman St. near Highland in the city outskirts closest to Brighton.

Congrats! I actually was married at the Rochester Museum & Science center and had the reception there as well. They were affordable, food was great and they were easy to deal with. It's been 2 years and people STILL refer to it as the best wedding they've ever been too:)We were married in September so we didn't want to chance the weather (thankfully because it was crap!) We married in the planetarium (not for everyone but was a blast) and had the reception inside- floor to ceiling windows in the main building) you & guests get the full run of the museum as well no extra charge. I had friend this year marry in the garden out back and have reception indoors (they can tent outdoors as well). We stayed at the Strathallen Hotel because it was walking distance and that was great as well (they do weddings too-food was great there).
Depending on your budget and style you may want to check out the Beaver Hollow Convention Center in Java, NY (near Darien Lake) gorgeous wooded area with rooms ponds, bonfires, etc. It was a little pricey but may be right for you. Here's a list of a couple others: Hickory Ridge Golf Club in Holley, Letchworth's Glen Iris Inn (people marry out doors and can put up a tent as well), Inn on Broadway (downtown Rochester), Harro East Ballroom (downtown Rochester), Hurd Orchards in Holley (this you have to do a little work yourself).
Good Luck!

Sure I would be glad to tell you about our weddings.
In the Inn: 30 guests wedding and reception.
In the Historic Barn: 120 for ceremony only.
In the Historic Barn Reception and Ceremony with (alter) and tables and chairs: 80 guest.
Any weddings would need to include rental of entire Inn, 4 rooms for a two night stay. Rates are posted on site.
I do have a wonderful caterer I use, that you can meet with. He supplies all linens and dishes for my tables with buffet or sit down dinner or even a picnic menu. Professional bartender with liability insurance must be hired for any drinking.
Also have minister referral for ceremony. Music referrals is also available if needed.
Cost this year is: ceremony: $6.00 per guest (includes chairs).
Historic barn reception $15.00 per guest (includes tables and chairs)
Reception in Inn $24.00 per guest. (includes tables and chairs)
Please let me know if I can be of more assistance.
