I want to get married on the water in Rochester or Finger Lakes? I am trying to stay away from the 'traditional' wedding venues. I would like something unique and beautiful. Any help?

Artisan Works is great for funky and unique. If you still want some traditional elements there are a ton of great wineries. How non traditional are you looking?

My husband and I tried to stay away from the tradional country club wedding that Rochester seems to have alot of. We ended up with having our ceremony at the The George Eastman House on East Avenue, which we felt was a unique venue paired with local history and a beautiful garden for ceremonies, they only book about 2-3 a year. The only downfall is that they don't do receptions, so we had ours at Casa Larga Vineyards in Fairport, but this is one of the wineries not on the finger lakes....we chose it because of the "winery" feel with great proximity to the Eastman House so our guests wouldn't need to travel far. We loved both venues, and loved our photos. If you're having a small wedding the Pavillion area of the Memorial Art Gallery has a enclosed glass ceiling and is also unique venue with a "modern" twist.

I went to a wedding at the Bellhurst Castle on Senica Lake and it was beautiful! Have you looked into the Rochester Science Museum and Planeterium? I have heard weddings there are unique and beautiful! Good Luck!

There is a new venue called Pier 45 on Lake Ontario near Charlotte Pier. Here is the web site. http://www.pier45attheport.com/

I have not seen a wedding there, but have had dinner there and it was pretty good.

Magpie, there are a few b&b's/cottages in the finger lakes area that rent out in their entirety for weddings. Here's the website for one we considered:
http://www.cobtree.com/
Unfortunately I've deleted the other links I had, but that will give you a start- if you do a generic search for finger lakes rentals or B&B's, you should be able to find some other options. Good luck!
