Anyone out there had their reception at the Red Lion Inn? I love the indoor space, but Im wondering if you get the use of the pool area at all. Ive noticed that most cocktail hours tend to be upstairs in the Lions Hall, but I always imagined having a flow between the indoors and out at my wedding and the pool area is beautiful. Any other info about the Red Lion anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Im having a little trouble getting them to respond to my emails.

I am not sure about the Red Lion in, but I had my wedding reception at the Atlantica last summer and it was magical. If they are not getting back to you it is not a good sign.

Alot of places just arent good with email, but it does make me nervous. I guess I should just call what would be early morning for me- its hard planning from work in a different time zone!

Atlantica looks beautiful, but I really love the different look/feel of the Red Lions materials and space. Its much more me.

We attended an event at the Red Lion a couple of weeks ago. The space is beautiful, like a large barn with a loft all around. The food was really delicious, expecially for such a large group. The owner is difficult, but he has staff people who should get back to you. Perhaps if you mentioned a date in a message, they are already booked for then. They are booking into 2009 already! Keep trying! It's worth it. If they are booked, there is also the Barker Tavern in Scituate. It's near the water and in an old building, with excellent food.

Thanks! I didnt mention a date, but I read a few reviews that people had trouble with the events person there, but I love the space more than anywhere else Ive seen. We are flexible on the date, so hopefully that will work to my advantage. When you were there were you allowed to flow out to the pool area?

I went to a wedding and post-wedding brunch the following day at the RLI. Both were completely disorganized and service was absolutely horrible. Dinner was so late that there was hardly any time for dancing afterwards. One person at our table received his dinner a full 10 minutes before anyone else. Champagne was poured two hours before the speeches so it was flat by the time toasts were made. Water was only refilled once the entire night. Cake was served 10 minutes before the party ended so most people didn't eat it. Many guests found the steak too rare to eat. The brunch the next day was even worse. They ran out of food, plates and coffee. Cream served with coffee was spoiled and curdled! Waitstaff didn't seem concerned with replacing any of these items other than the spoiled cream, even after numerous complaints. Both events were horribly mishandled. I have never been to events so poorly run.
