We held ours at Lou Malnati's on Wells. I thought it was pretty reasonable, and the room is private - with no fee. We brought in our own cake. Call them to check prices, but I think the wine/beer package was something like $8/hr or $12 total for two hours.

Try Soprano's on Sheffield just north of Diversey. They looked like they had pretty good rates and had a party room.

You should look into Dunlay's on Clark. They can make arrangements for smaller private parties in a separate room and the food is great! We had our rehearsal there last month :)

We are planning to have ours at Giodarno's in greektown, they have a room that holds a lot of people and don't charge for it. Wanted to give people a chicago pizza experience. I haven't seen it yet but going to take a look in november.

I can't recommend 404 Winebar enough. We had our after party for our wedding at 404 and Lindsay bent over backwards to do anything we wanted. They can beat any price, the staff is just as great as DOC winebar and Lindsay is GREAT to work with. Probably the best deal in the city that nobody knows about. I believe she bought the place last winter and is really changing it. I think it got some bad reviews with the old owner, but now it's different.

But I also love DOC wine bar (which is attached to Dunlay's on Clark-mentioned above). They are a little more expensive but it's in such a prime location, especially if any of your guests are staying at the hotels in Lincoln Park. It's not expensive and it's a great spot and the staff are so so attentive for parties held there. I have hosted a few parties there and they are great.

The food is really great at both of these spots. They both will basically do anything you'd like/want. 404 is just a bit cheaper.

We had our rehearsal dinner at Gino's East downtown in the private rooms upstairs and it was great, and a pretty good deal too.

We had our rehearsal dinner at Salvatore's on W. Arlington Place in Lincoln Park. We had a cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres and a family style dinner with chicken and pasta. The setting was adorable, the prices were reasonable and the event coordinators were very helpful. Worth checking out.

We had ours at Giordanos in Greektown and it was great space and price. There are 2 spaces - 1 holds about 50 people and the other about 40, and it is correct that there is no charge for the room, only the food. And though they offer packages with prices per person, you can choose to just have pizzas and drinks or whatever you want without worrying about the per person menus and prices. You can also preorder on the day of so that the pizzas are ready for when your party arrives. I'd say the only con is that the 2 spaces are next to each other, so sometimes it was a bit noisy from the other side.

A couple of recommendations is Dave & Busters. They have private rooms and it is a fun place especially if folks want to head out to play games afterwards. That is where we had ours. Another recommendation is Pequod's Pizza. I have been to showers and other events upstairs in their private room.

I am having ours in the suburbs, but my brother had his at Marcellos in Lincoln Park. They have a beautiful indoor patio and you can order plated dinners or pizza. They have complimentary parking. I loved it. If I was getting married downtown, that is where I would have mine.

Here is the website

Hello Sara,

We had our rehearsal dinner at Harry Carays River North (harrycarays.com)location at the 33 W Kinzie St. The food selection was very reasonable, the staff was very friendly and their private room will accommodate 50/60 people.
