Hello! We recently got engaged and are now trying to plan a beach wedding from Atlanta for July 2010. I have been looking at different places, and can't quite find the perfect place. I would love to have the wedding beachside and a reception either beachside as well or somewhere that overlooks the beach. I looked into The King and Prince, but I think that it is going to be too expensive. We are paying for the majority of our wedding, and I just don't want to start out our lives together in debt (if possible :)). Any ideas?? Thanks so much! :)

The casino is a great place to have a reception! Very inexpensive too. Contact the Glynn county parks department for rates.

There really isn't much beachside on SSI. The only other thought is by the lighthouse. There's a beautiful gazebo there and also the lighthouse property has a beautiful new reception building. If you need additional info, please call me or email.

My daughter was married at the lighthouse early this month and highly recommend it. The rental price of $1500 includes the gazebo, grounds and heritage center including a ballroom that holds 90+. There are tables and chairs included in the rental but are for use inside only. My daughter was married at the gazebo overlooking the ocean, but if you time it right, you could get married on the sand below the lighthouse grounds. I have another daughter getting married in Atlanta in May, and we rented the lighthouse cheaper than her church is costing us. Contact Curt Smith at the Lighhouse if you are intersted. He is great to work with. But, if you are interested do so soon. Word is getting out what a great deal this venue is, and they are filling up fast.

Congrats! We are getting married in Sea Island in June 2010!

There is a little Inn that is right across the street from the beach called the Sea Gate Inn. They own an empty lot that faces the beach. We have reserved rooms there for our wedding, and when we spoke to them, they said that if we wanted to have the wedding in a tent across the street on their empty lot, that they offer that to people who reserve all 24ish rooms in at the Inn for weddings. We already had a venue, so we werent able to take advantage, but it sounds like it might be exactly what you are looking for. You could get married on the beach and then walk up to the tent and still be right on the water.

There is another Inn right down the street from the Sea Gate (Ocean Gate or something Ocean) that has a top floor open air room/patio that they allow people who rent out the place to use for weddings. Same idea... you could get married on the beach and then walk back across the street to the Inn for the reception.

Hope this helps!! Good Luck!
