I have finally made a decision to have our wedding ceremony in Siesta Key. I live in Wisconsin so I have to do all research online. We have approx 35 guests.
I have found some companies who have all inclusives deals such as photographer, videographer, chairs, flowers, arches, officiate, etc. included with their price. But I have a couple questions:
1) Is it cheaper to do it all inclusive or individually?
2) Does anyone know any all inclusive companies who are well known for their work?
3) We are looking for a simple place to have a small reception such as The Beachhouse or something like that. Anyone know of any other places?

Hi Kristin,
I am planning a wedding on siesta key for September 19 of this year. I just got engaged this month so I'm planning it in four months - whoa. At this point, I'm doing everything myself but I am setting up some appointments with independent contractors (caterer, photographer, florist) in July when I'm on the Key. I think if you go with a wedding coordinator, they would know of the best deals and have all the local connections they could share with you but they won't share their secrets until you sign a contract with them. It's definitely possible to do it yourself but it's a lot of work. I'm getting married at Sunset Point on siesta key beach access 2 and having my reception at the Tropical Breeze Resort on Avenida Messina Rd. They are walking distance from each other. It comes recommended by another bride I've been communicating with. She did everything herself too. The wedding coordination places offered a lot of things I was not interested in, Just not my taste, since I'm bringing my own music, minister and building my own canopy, I didn't really need to use some of the wedding planners. There is one person I found down there that I'm meeting with in July to see if she can help me the day of the ceremony and reception. I don't think I can be available to meet the vendors and set up the decorations the day of or even the day before. I just want one person to assist me and not have to rely on my friends and family so they can enjoy themselves. If you're interested, after I meet with the party planner in July, I can give you her contact information and let you know how it goes.
Good luck with everything and feel free to write back! PS. I've heard Marina Jacks is a nice place to have a reception.

I got married last year at Sunset Pointe and it was beautiful. I believe the Beach House is on Anna Maria Island, not Siesta Key...right?

We used Island Girl Sunset Weddings - Mark did a fabulous job on our wedding day. He showed up early to the ceremony spot, got rid of any sea weed, raked the sand, set up the canopy, all the chairs, decorations, etc. We rented his golf cart which was great for transferring guests since the parking is so limited on Siesta Key. He also sent the bridal party down the aisle when they needed to go and made sure my husband never saw me. Then once it was all over, he took it all down and cleaned everything up. I literally showed up on my wedding day and everything was ready to go, I didn't lift a finger. I will tell you that Island Girl Sunset Weddings is not very prompt in their communication, that was my only complaint with them. Their packages include a canopy (they have a couple to choose from, we went with the bamboo), chairs, tiki torches (we went without these), and other random stuff. They also offer photography services and actual wedding-coordinating services, but I didn't utilize any of those.

This is my personal opinion (and this may be because I am a photographer) but the photographer's that are offered in a lot of the packages are not exactly my style. They are somewhat generic and just not quite modern enough for my tastes...again, that's a personal opinion and not exactly the case for every single company that offers photography services.

We held our reception at a private home, so I'm not much of a help there. I do know there is a very cute little restaurant that is literally a 2 minute walk from Sunset Pointe called Maximo's that we ALMOST had our reception at. Their menu looked delicious and they had a nice patio area that should work nicely for the amount of guests you have.

I included a quick picture of our ceremony set up at Sunset Pointe, it was so perfect.

Oh, and if you want to see the rest of my wedding pictures, feel free to check them out here: http://tinyurl.com/5dqrl3
