If you're mesmerized by marine life, then the Miami Seaquarium should satisfy your aquatic appetite. With a variety of splashy shows, nautical presentations and fishy exhibits, this venue has been delighting Sunshine State residents and tourists since 1955. An emphasis on marine conservation explains why the Seaquarium is the country's leader in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of the manatee. Shows at this 38-acre site include the Flipper Dolphin Show, Golden Dome Sea Lion Show, and Killer Whale and Dolphin Show. Presentations allow you to come face to face with the endangered manatee, observe Nile crocodiles, and eye the playful antics of sea lions. And how about that 750,000-gallon saltwater aquarium?

The Miami Seaquarium was founded in 1955 by Fred D. Coppock and Capt. W.B. Gray. At the time, it was one of only three aguariums in the United States that featured marine mammals. These mammals, at one time or another, included Flipper the dolphin, Hugo & Lolita the orcas, Carolina Snowball, the only albino dolphin ever held in captivity, and Salty the sea lion.
