Share the date--Just and Idea

I never heard of anything like this before but I think it is a good idea. I figured I would try it out with my own wedding if I can find another willing party just as crazy as I am.

I am just starting to plan my wedding in Orlando. We have not decided on much yet (vendors, colors, location, etc.) but we are shooting for a date in April or May 2009. (I know that is relatively soon). If any of you plan to get married between that time we can plan our weddings in the same venue use some of the same vendors, center pieces, etc. and save allot of money. Of course the ceremony and receptions will be at separate times.

For instance, the place I want to have my reception at is $3500 for the entire day. I will only need it for 3-4 hours. Why couldn't another bride and I split that cost and share the venue?

Just an idea I had. Feel free to email me at wright.monique@gmail.com

FYI--I am a trendy kind of girl, looking to have a contemporary, jazzy, unique wedding.

Monique, there are venues that charge an all day fee and you can certainly have it all day as long as the two weddings allowed for adeqauet time, and that you were able to have time inbetween. However I will let you know some of teh drawbacks to that, photography, video and DJ all charge by certain hours and I do know that they would not split teh cost due to the fact that they are doing two events, seprate pictuers, albums etc, dj's charge by the group hours 4 and 5 hr increments. Then if you are at a venue thatyou have to supply napkins, linens and such they would need replacing because they would be dirty for the nextgroup of people. However as far as using same facility it could bea possibility just remember that someone needs at least 2 hrs to go in there and clean up after the first party and set up for teh new party.

However give me a call or write ma an email you might be suprised at how economical having a wedding planner is becayse where you think you are spending money you are saving money due to teh fact that we can present different scenarios and options to getyou the wedding ofyoru dreams.

Write ma t miraclewedding27@aol.com and we can further discuss...

Thanks for the reply. I will contact you, perhaps you can help me with my vision.

I did consider some of those draw backs. I imagine there would be some cost that cannot be split but others that can be either split or reduced.

Like I said it was just an idea that I wanted to chat with another bride about.

Thanks again!

Monique,

I will have to agree with the last vendor. I am a vendor myself. I am the manager of a DJ and Photography company. I would be more than happy to send you some information about us though and share some insight on what we can do to help make your wedding what you vision it to be without breaking the pocket lol.

But like the last vendor stated it would be very hard to find someone that would want the same exact center pieces and flowers and colors as you. Not to mention that some girls like to keep what they purchase unless they rent it from a vendor. Depends on what you get. However as it sounds so cool and economical to do, it would be a very hard thing to accomplish.

If you would like more help feel free to contact me as well and I will be more than happy to talk to you about what is out there. Send me a email and I will be more than happy to get in contact with you. monica@kcdjandphoto.com

I understand there may be some hurdles and this may not be ideal for everyone HOWEVER...I have gotten emails from DJ's who would lower their cost to 1.5 their normal rate (instead of 2X's) as they would be guaranteed two events the same day and would not incur the extra travel cost or set up time/energy. The same thing for one of the caterers. They supply the linens and would only need the time to switch them out and someone would have to reposition the centerpieces, put out the new place cards, etc. However the caterer requested the menu items be similar and they could offer a nice discount (25% or so).
I don't know about other brides but I don't want to keep any center pieces so I certainly wouldn't mind splitting that cost down the middle.
Like I said, I know there are allot of logistics to be worked out (maybe too many). This idea is for a bride willing to try something different and is flexible. Part of it is the budget the other part is practicality. Again its just an idea.
