Has anyone had a bonfire on the beach in Destin? We would like to have one the night that everyone arrives, but I need to know more information. By the way, special thanks to stylist_85, ashdee83 and cconstantine for the helpful tips already offered in preparation for our upcoming wedding. :-)

I'm not sure about bonfires on the beach. You might need a permit, especially if it's a public beach. If you're renting a beach house, you might need permission from the rental agent. We're on the beach almost every evening during the summer shooting weddings and family beach portraits, and I can only think of one time that I've seen a fire on the beach, and that was years ago. Part of Destin is in Okaloosa county, and part is in Walton County, so you need to determine in which county your wedding will be. Check that county's website to see if there is any mention of the legality of fires on the beach and if a permit is required.

I hope that helps a little.

You need to be in Walton county or at least have it in Walton county. I believe you call / go up to the fire dept on 395 to request it. They set it up and take it down and the cost is $50. I just spoke to a guy that does it last night at a wedding. Also if you are looking for great wedding referrals you can see a list of my favorite on my site www.jubileephotography.com drop down menu "information" and then "people we love" Good luck and hope you have a wonderful time.

I do not believe you can do this in Okaloosa County (Destin proper all the way a little past Destin Commons) and you do have to get a permit to do it in Walton County (Destin Commons to Rosemary Beach).
I hope this helps.
