Hi, I have the same situation as you. My fiance and his family only speak English and my family only Spanish. So for the ceremony, the lady is going to speak Spanish, and my maid of honor will translate. It was either that or pay a translator, but I thought it was an unnecessary expense and beside I rather have my best friend translate, she knows us and coming from her will be very meaningful, she is also up there with me, so it works. My friend will meet with The lady that is doing the ceremony, a day before the wedding just to have an idea of what she will speak about during the ceremony.
Hi Andrea, I'm organizing my wedding in cartagena as well, I'm colombian and my fiancé is Irish. We are getting married in "iglesia de santo Domingo" and our priest speaks both spanish and english, so I'm planing to do a bilingual ceremony. From the invitations from the wedding song everything is going to be about both of the cultures meeting. If you have any questions please let me know. Btw I'm working with an amazing wedding planner from caribe Cordial. Her name is Daniela. And words can not express how happy we are with her. She is also bilingual. I hope this help you. Have an awesome night Best regards Andrea
