Hello everyone! We are planning our wedding in Cartagena for either Spring or Fall of 2014. One of the options for a venue is a colonial house. However, I am concerened about how hot it will get in the courtyard of the house given no breeze can come in due to the high walls. Are fans sufficient to cool down the area? Is it possible to rent portable A/C units? I don't want to be drenched in sweat for the wedding pictures or be uncomfortable while dancing in a heavy wedding dress. I'd love to hear comments or suggestions from anyone who has had experience with this. Thanks!! : )
I'm not sure AC units work well in an open space. I used fans all over the place and they made a big difference, although I was sweating a lot. For that reason I had my photos taken before and my dress wasn't heavy, perfect for a tropical weather. We also had the cocktail hour in a salon (with AC) of the colonial house and people refresh from the heat drinking juices. It would be a waste having the wedding in a hotel salon (which you can do anywhere) if you are in Cartagena and not take advantage of the colonial architecture.
