I don't live in Leth, but in Fort McMurray. My fiance is from Lethbridge. We are trying to book our ceremony separate from our reception location. Looking at a September 2014 wedding. Any suggestions?? Am I nuts to attempt outdoor?
What kind of reception are you having? I would say you can definitely do an outdoor wedding in September. I am a local photographer and have captured a few outdoors in September. You could go to the Lethbridge Country Club and get married on the golf course. In the fall it's absolutely gorgeous, and if the weather is not wonderful for any reason you are able to have it indoors in the club house that has a wrap around veranda and every wall is just windows looking out into the golf course and the greenery. You can see that wedding below. They had their reception in the club house so you can get an idea of what that looks like as well.
I personally wouldn't. The wind in September is crazy. I wouldn't want to deal with that and everything that comes along with it--hair being blown everywhere, people not able to hear your vows, etc. I'm having my ceremony at The Galt museum and my reception at the Lethbridge Lodge. The viewing gallery in the galt is as close to being outdoors while still inside that I could figure. For ceremony only, it is $500.
What was the Lethbridge Lodge like for the reception? Do they provide table cloths, chair covers, ect. Any information would help. I'm looking for venue options and since the ideal time for me would be fall I am leaning towards the Galt museum for our ceremony to overlook all the beautiful fall foliage, but I don't think I want the reception there.
The ceremony at the Galt was AMAZING! I loved it. It wasn't as private as I would have liked--I think they could have more of the dividers, but it was great.
The Lodge does provides table cloths, chair covers, napkins, etc. I had some issues with them, but the wedding consultant there (Lauren Selles) is amazing. I would get everything in writing--we had some issues with what was promised and what happened, but I liked that they took care of everything and I didn't have to worry about rentals and caterers. If you do go to the Lodge, I recommend getting the ceiling draped and the backdrop like I did. It is expensive (REALLY expensive), but it looks gorgeous and softens the place up. I would look at the Coast hotel instead. While they don't have the bridal package (that I am aware of), it sounds like it is quite a bit cheaper, and wonderful.
My biggest tip would be to get a wedding planner. Even if it is just for day-of. They can usually save you what they cost through their connections with venues and vendors. The headache of things that go wrong (and things WILL go wrong) will be their responsibility and you won't have to worry. I wish I did it that way. This is very helpful! I am thinking of doing a buffet dinner vs a plated dinner, what do you think? Do you know if they allow you to set up a candy station? What did your reception end up costing? And how many people; adequate space for dancing after dinner?
I did the buffet. Works wonderfully. Especially since I had a lot of guests with dietary restrictions. It was about $70 a person including the tax and gratuity and whatnot. They would probably let you have a candy station--just ask before. The restrictions they have it that you have to provide receipts and things for alcohol. We weren't allowed to make and bring our own cake/alcohol so I figure it'd be the same. I had 150ish people, and two of the ballrooms. There was plenty of room and a big dance floor.
