I recommend you see Risekyb Sanchez wedding video...that convinced me that when I get married its definitely inside the fort. If you have a good photograpger lighting should not be an issue :)
Do you have a link or location for this video? Id love to check that out. Thanks so much for your advice!
Congrats! I just got married on June 16th inside El Morro Castillo San Felipe. We had a night time ceremony. We scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time but the ceremony really didn’t start until around 7:30. I am not sure what the requirements are for the outside but we had to provide lighting inside for the ceremony that the awesome DJ Rockhand provided along with the music & mic for the ceremony & reception. I will say if you choose to do it at the location we did there is a pretty steep incline to get to the ceremony site. I made sure to let my guest know beforehand but I don’t think anyone was prepared to walk back down in high heels. I do not regret doing it inside for a single minute because the view is incredible and photo options are endless! I also like the fact that we did it inside due to the privacy. When we arrived at 7:15 after the sun set there was still a lot of tourist hanging around the outside of the fort.
Wow, thank you so much for your reply. After seeing your ceremony picture you attached I love it! So wind was not a big issue at your ceremony then? Do you have any other photos you could send to my email? Also when filling out your permit, what location/level is this called?
Yes the link is http://vimeo.com/m/6826792. I cry every time I see it :)
vmarinelly, I am in the process of getting a quote from DJ Rockhand after getting your post! So thank you so much, I think all of this has helped me to make my decision to move in doors.
Congrats on your June 16th wedding! That is my husband-to-be's birthday :)
The wind wasn't a huge issue for me. I don’t think I would have realized it was windy if I hadn’t been wearing a cathedral length veil but even that didn’t bother me. I do not know the exact name of the location we choose but it is inside Castillo San Felipe del Morro. The beautiful video of Risekyb Sanchez is actually inside San Cristobal Fort. This is on the other side of the fort. It is an amazing location but you do not get a view of the water if that’s what you are looking for. I can email you some of the pictures taken inside and outside of Castillo San Felipe at night…
Yes please do email me some photos :) my email is Jadeswick@gmail.com
Thank you for your photos. Very beautiful :) I really love the entrance photo you sent! I am getting more excited. I did get some pricing from DJ Rockhand, and do you mind me asking how many of those globes you used at your ceremony? Is it just the one in the photo providing all of that light or more of them?
Thank You! We had 2 Moon Lights and 4 of the decorative up lighting
I too got married inside of the fort on June 22. I don't have any professional photos yet, but it was a great decision! It was still light when we started, but all dark when we left.
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you have to spend for the lighting? I think we will need 2 globe lights as well but was told El Morro wants (or requires) you to illuminate "ramp ways" and access ways to restrooms etc. How did you work around this?
I believe the spot in your photograph is an area called Bastion de Austrias. I have seen photos, but I am torn between this area and then an area with the garitas called Bastion de Carmen (I attached a photo of this area my planner took) :)
Ashley, wow your set up is almost identical to what mine will be. I see you had 2 globe lights on either side of your ceremony. I was thinking I would need two but my wedding planner is telling me just one at the ceremony :/ after seeing yours I am wondering if I should add another?! However my wedding will be in Oct and i think it will be darker earlier, so darker during our ceremony than yours :/ how was the wind? I love the lanterns ;) I asked for the same thing! Beautiful wedding Ashley!
vmarinelly, I am also getting married at El Morro next year. Your picture is beautiful. Do you mind if you can also e-mail me some more photos of the ceremony site? I would love to see it.
vmarinelly, if you don't mind I'd also appreciate if you can send me your pics too. We are getting married in San Cristobal next year, but I still think your pics would help us out.
Hello, does anyone have information as far as fees are concerned for El Morro? I am trying to decide between having my ceremony at the fort or El Convento. Also, I would love to see pictures from your beautiful weddings. :) Thank you! If you have any information to pass along please email me at email@example.com
*Your contact through the permit process will be Jorge Maldonado (Jorge_Maldonado@nps.gov). He will respond by e-mail and is extremely helpful.
*The application fee is $50, the site fee is $350, and you will also have to take out liability insurance (around $100)- he'll outline all of this in detail when you contact him
I e-mailed you a link to some photos. :)
Thank you so much for the information Ashley!!! I have been searching high and low on the internet for more info. I love your photos and your blog. You looked beautiful!!!
Thank you so much & no problem at all!
Ashley, could you provide the name of which company you used for the liability insurance? We're getting married at San Cristobal in October and I'm still looking for a cheaper option for the insurance.
Hi there! I am getting married in July, and I am working through filling out my permit for the forts. I am leaning toward the interior El Morro fort as well (with the view of the water). Can anyone confirm for me what I should put as the location on the form? Also, any recommendations for vendors that can assist with the lighting? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
