Hi all!! I am getting a planner to help with my El Morro fort wedding, but in the meantime I am curious.... what is the earliest possible time a fort wedding can start being set up? Right at 6:00 or do you have to wait until 6:30? Has anyone been married there before that knows about how long it takes to set things up?

Thanks for the help!

It depends if you are getting married inside the Fort or out on the lawn. If you are doing it outside of the Fort on the lawn then you can basically do it anytime. Otherwise, if you are doing it inside the Fort you can have the ceremony at 6:30pm. I am getting married on a Sunday in Nov, with about 75 attendees and my planner said the earliest they could do it is at 6:30.

What Maria said exactly. We had our ceremony on the lawn 4.10.11 with 60 attendees. We opted for the lawn vs. inside because the time of year we were getting married, we would have had to bring in additional lighting, etc.

Hello - can anyone recommend a good site on the lawn? I want to do it as close to the entrance as possible so our guests don't have to walk too far, but I want it to have a nice view. Thank you for your help!

Autumn

Yes they do the lawn weddings typically in the same place each time. If you are facing El Morro, it is just to the right, near that small building. You want it there so you have a power source for mics, etc. Here is a video of a wedding where I am talking about. http://ndffilmsblog.com/wordpress/?p=7

Thank you so much for your response Maria. This helps me immensely. I could not get very good/accurate information on the site - only that it is a popular place - and this is perfect.

Thank you!!

Autumn

We just had our ceremony at El Morro in April and we are soooo glad we did. We had ours a little further up on the right - the area right next to the wall overlooking the ocean. The only challenge with this was that there is not a power source for mic/guitar. However, our wedding was fairly small (apx. 60 people) and my husband wore a mic from the videographer under his jacket, so this was not a problem for us. We were also worried about the wind being loud over the mic. I'm SO happy we had our ceremony here. It was much more private than having it down below (there weren't random people in the background of our pictures, and having the ocean in the background was amazing!

PS. We were also worried about the walk up for our guests, because everyone was in heels, etc. However, everyone told us that they actually enjoyed it and the walk wasn't a big deal :)

Thank you Jessy! When you say to the right, do you mean the right of the main walkway that leads to the fort through the lawn? I'm also not sure what you mean by down below? Thank you so much for your help!

Also, I like the photo you posted. Were you happy with your photographer?

Hi Autumn, no problem! Our ceremony site was to the right of the main walkway - almost all the way to the "moat" in front of the castle. On sort of a "peninsula" overlooking the ocean. We had about 60 people and it was the perfect amount of space. I'm giving a terrible description, so here is a photo, facing the other way, to give you an idea.

We LOVED our photographer. However, we flew them in from California. We had worked with them in the past and felt the most comfortable with them. If you email me at zepeda.jessie (at)gmail.com I can send you a link to a ton of pictures of different places on the grounds that we considered having our ceremony.
