My fiancé and I have been consistently visiting Siesta Key... In fact he proposed to me on beach access 2 so it holds a lot of sentimental value. I would love to host a wedding ceremony there, on the right side where there is a small pocket of sand against the rocky edge. I think it is beautiful, but I am anticipating having 70-80 people in attendance. I am wondering if there is anyone who has or had that guest size, or has planned a wedding of that size at that spot. I've seen figures like a size of 40, but i just fell in love with that site! Just wondering if it can be done!

attached is a pic of the scene...not of its entirety , but maybe to help recognize it.

We got married on Siesta Key (great choice!) and had ~ 60 guests. We used a Company Called Barefoot Beach Weddings (they were great, by the way). They ONLY do their ceremonies near the big blue lifeguard tower near the main Beach parking lot. However, there were other companies who let you pick your spot - you'll just have to call around to see which one does. It'll be well worth your effort since you'd be getting married at the #1 beach in the country :o} If your pkg doesn't include chairs, I recommend renting some from A Rental Company (that's their name!). Their prices were $3 a chair vs our wedding company's $10 a chair. Good luck w your search and congratulations!

well, there is a reason why OTHER companies let you do weddings on the access numbers they simply DO NOT FOLLOW the rules from Parks and Recreation!! Any reputable wedding company knows that they are not allowed to have any wedding on any access numbers. To have your ceremony on Siesta key public beach you do need to obtain a beach permit from Parks and Recreation and we here at "SunWeddings" do that for our couples and attach a copy to their contracts.
We wish you good luck,
your Sunweddings team

p.s. have you considered the parking situation even if you "trolley" all your guests in, you still need parking spaces for the officiant, photographer, florist, musician, videographer, rental company and wedding planner!
On another note there are no bathrooms near by which can be a problem!
Our suggestion would be to have your ceremony on Siesta Key and have your personal pictures taken on
"your spot"

Carolyn, there are a lot of great companies that can help with planning your wedding on Siesta Key. The first thing to do is check with the county about permits. From working with many brides in the past, I know certain sections of the beach have limits on what can be put on the beach in terms of number of chairs/arches. Also many of the rental companies will only deliver to very specific beach access areas.

Here is an album design from a wedding we photographed at Beach Access 2 - They had quite a few more than 40 guests and it was beautiful! If you need any help or have questions please feel free to give me a call. We are always happy to help - my number is 727-460-5224

Hi Carolyn!

We perform most of our weddings at this public access and would live to help you!
Our website is and my number is 941-456-WEDS.

There are no rules within Sarasota Parks and Recreation that state you cannot get married there.
We are not only a very reputable company, but also named Best of The Knot Weddings 2012. I'm happy to explain the truth about the permitting regulations here if you would like to chat!

Check out my wedding on this link to see photos of set up in that space:

We got married at Beach Access #2 and it was snug with 50 chairs. It worked for our guests and our reception was right up the street at Tropical Breeze so everyone walked and our few vendors parked at the house and were familiar with the area. I have heard Beach Access #4 would work but I would highly suggest you call the Parks and Recs and talk to someone about what Beach Accesses are available. I think there is black out periods too so be sure to let them know your date. Best of luck!

Hi Caroline,
we spoke this morning with Parks and Recreation about the permit situation and discovered that there are different people giving out different opinions. We have been told in the past, that they are not giving out ANY permits for ANY access numbers on Siesta Key. However other people in the same department do it. They will get together and figure this out we have been told. It makes us look pretty misinformed and we apologize to anyone out there if we offended them. We only went by what was told to us from the official channels.
We are sure you find the right group of vendors to make your day unforgettable.
Good luck,
your SunWeddings team

we had about 80 guests so we couldn't fit near access 2 but we took alot of pics there. We set up not too far from there next to the sandbox inn near the grassy area - it was really nice.

Any idea how to get a permit for this location? I'm planning the wedding myself without a planner....I contacted parks and rec who told me they do not issue permits for this location, however, I contacted multiple wedding planners who say they do weddings there all the time. I am confused! We are staying at Tropical Breeze so all guests will be walking, no parking issues (esp because we are from out of state and everyone is flying, including officiant, musician, photographer). Can someone please break this down for me? Is there a workaround/loophole? Thanks!
