Beach, catholic blessing/symbolic ceremony, and a party in Cartagena! (Civil marriage in the USA before we go to Cartagena)

We are getting married in the states - civil marriage: quick city hall paperwork- and then we want to have a symbolic ceremony/celebration in Cartagena, at the beach. We wouldn´t need a priest to marry us, but perhaps he could just give us a blessing? It would mean a lot to us to have that catholic blessing and celebrate with our family and friends.

Does anyone know if that can be done?

Or does anyone know of some alternatives for a nice and meaningful ceremony that doens´t need to be a legal marriage -since we would already have that, and we actually don´t have all the paperwork translated/apostille to register with a notary and all that in Colombia.

We just need the beach, a blessing/symbolic ceremony, and a party!

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Hello! I don't have an answer for you, rather, the same problem. We had our civil wedding in Mexico and will be married on the 15 and, in the abscence of Joey Tribiani, will need a priest or shaman to perform a blessing. The wedding is all but organized an will happen in a couple of weeks. Any help would be gratefully received. Again, I don't need a wedding planner, just help with a blessing.

Thanks for your help.

Happy Thanksgiving BTW!!

Wow! your wedding is really coming up soon. If I find out anything I will let you know. So far, still looking. Something like a shaman would also be great, but I´m not so sure it would be easy to find.

HI V. and others,

I too need some help please...

I have found the process of planning a wedding in Cartagena so very confusing and frustrating! We are based in Australia and the distance is really limiting what we can find out. Here in Australia I am a Celebrant so we though we would have kind of head start but I am becoming desperate.

We hit a few hurdles, so we decided to legally get married here and then celebrate (mass/ceremony/blessing and reception) in Cartagena. However, now no one in Cartagena seems to understand that although we will be legally married, we want the wedding celebration there... We were even told that we can't ware our wedding 'costumes' to the church in Cartagena as we will be legally married.

I really want my wedding there but I am beside myself trying to work it all out... Can anyone help???

Thank you,

Hi Flakitai, I don't know Brides and Events but I can not I can recommend the best soprano of Cartagena. She is very professional and I was fascinated with her voice and her professionalism. Andrea Giraldo is singer and violinist. She plays the violin at the wedding marches and sings in the other songs. The pianist is wonderful.
Good luck
